Meet The Boss…
Where it all began
EcoTowels all began over 10 years ago when hairdresser and owner of Tony Hairdressing in Christchurch, Matthew Smith got fed up with constantly dealing with wet and dirty towels in his salon: “they were everywhere and it was taking our staff hours to launder them, plus we kept having to replenish our cotton towels every six months.”
There had to be a cheaper, planet-friendly solution and EcoTowels was born.

As more salons started making the switch to EcoTowels and the business started to grow, so did the team and Matthew asked his wife (and trained hairdresser) George to help him support our clients with answering their questions and helping them make the change from cotton towels to disposables.
Getting Certified
Officially Biodegradable
In 2015 EcoTowels committed to undergoing independent testing of our towels to qualify their biodegradable qualities. We were one of the first disposable towel companies in the UK to undergo this process with German based laboratories DinCertco who were able to certify our towels as biodegradable.

Keeping safe during the pandemic
Covid 19 changed the landscape of salons in 2020 and EcoTowels were able to provide business owners with an instant, easy and cost-effective way of keeping clients and staff safe in line with Government guidelines.
By offering a fresh and individual towel for each client, everyone is assured there is no chance of cross contamination.
